Welcome to SNO’s Invasive Plant Removal and River Restoration with Friends of the Mississippi River!
We have started a long term partnership to help maintain the river banks along the Mississippi at Sheridan Memorial Park. We will be learning about invasive species, how to identify them, how to remove them effectively and eventually planting native species to revitalize the landscape. We will meet at the Sheridan Veterans Memorial at 5 pm, where the FMR will educate us on the project and then we will start the invasive plant removal. We will provide the gloves, water, bags, snacks and tools. Broken Clock Brewing will provide a beverage afterwards!
Please be sure to sign up! The river is one of Sheridan’s greatest assets and something that we as a community can work together to preserve.

20th Annual Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk
Announcing The 20th Annual Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk
September 28, 2024
9 am
Boom Island Park
724 Sibley St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
EVENT:
The 20th Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk fundraising event is co-organized by St. Anthony West Neighborhood Organization (STAWNO) and Sheridan Neighborhood Organization (SNO). We are two adjacent N.E. Minneapolis neighborhoods on the banks of the Mississippi River. Since 2023 we have been building a lasting collaboration for the benefit of our communities and beyond.
The Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk traces a historical, scenic loop along the Mississippi River. This year, due to construction on the Stone Arch Bridge, the race takes a new route. Beginning and ending in the same place as previous years, the new route is as beautiful as ever. Participants trace a path along the Mississippi–through Nicollet Island, around the Stone Arch Bridge neighborhood, across the 3rd Avenue Bridge, and back to Boom Island along the river. Our green city is the backdrop all along the way.
This run/walk fundraising event is for everyone!
Runners enjoy the timed aspect of the 5K–with prizes by Mill City Running given for all age groups! Walkers enjoy the scenery and the accomplishment. Everyone loves the riverfront route, and of course, the free Kramuczuk's brats at the end celebration. There will be swag for all participants, and coffee for the early morning event.
Help actively support our riverfront neighborhoods. All proceeds benefit SNO & STAWNO civic programs.
Mark your calendars for September 28, 2024, 9 am and Register today
